Meadow Residence

The site for this custom home was previously a hay field and wet meadow.  The high water table and wetland setbacks presented a design challenge that became a feature of the landscape.  The house needed to be raised above the existing grade of the field, using retaining walls.  Using thoughtful geometry, natural materials and layered planting, the walls and the home now sit gracefully elevated above the meadow, looking as though they belong.  This property is the forever home for a special young family.  The landscape includes a plunge pool, vegetable garden and orchard, a play area for their children and walking paths through the meadow, all surrounded by plantings and materials which change seasonally and provide year round beauty.
